MSS FIREPROVED is a fire-rated product line within Mechanical Support System’s range of cable containment solutions. FIREPROVED cable containment systems are designed & manufactured locally and meet the requirements of AS/NZS 3013:2005 & NZBC.

What does it mean to be a fire-rated cable containment system?

It means such a system has been tested as AS/NZS 3013:2005 Appendix C prescribes. This Appendix sets out a test method to determine the suitability of cable containment systems and fixing for supporting elements of wiring systems under fire conditions.

Specimens of cable containment and fixings are mechanically loaded and placed in a furnace to determine the suitability of a cable containment system set up to support wiring system elements under fire conditions. It is tested as per AS1530.4.

A testing specimen is considered to pass the certification testing if:

  • It succeeds in supporting its load during the test
  • Any part of the support, whether it hasn’t deflected or deflected by less than 100mm from its position at the start of the test
  • Any fixing has stayed intact into the specimen mounting slab.

The test continues till the moment 120 min has elapsed.
